THE COMMANDER SHUTTLE TEAM

ABOUT US

“I’ve been in Cape Town for 15 years and spent more than a decade of that in the Western Cape tourism industry. In the last four years alone we’ve organised transport for over a thousand individual clients and hundreds of groups. I know what matters in this work: language, transparent pricing, and a driver you can trust with a full day in an unfamiliar country.”

OUR STORY

Commander Shuttle grew out of a simple observation. Travellers kept falling into the same trap in Cape Town: book an online transfer from an aggregator, land after a twelve-hour flight, meet a stranger with an unfamiliar car, a language you don’t share, and no clear idea who to call when something goes sideways. Unfamiliar city, tired children in the back, you trying to figure out what is even happening.

We built a company that closes that gap. Our office in Cape Town runs the communication — route, price, special requests, every detail handled directly with you. Our own vehicles and our own drivers meet you at arrivals, by name, on a board. If the plan slips, you don’t message a call centre on another continent; you message us directly, and we know you, the driver, and the route.

Over the past four years we’ve done this run more than a thousand times. Hundreds of groups — private families, corporate teams, multi-day tours along the Garden Route and through the Winelands. That volume bought us something you can’t shortcut: a tested network of local drivers, a feel for how each season behaves on the road, and a reputation that beats any marketing budget.

The difference between a broker and an operator with its own fleet is accountability. A broker resells your trip to the first available driver and disappears. We drive it ourselves: our vehicles, our drivers, our reputation on the line every time. Slower to scale, more honest at the result.

OUR FLEET

Three categories of vehicle for different jobs. Minibuses for families and smaller groups, a premium van for comfort-first transfers, and a full-size bus for larger groups and multi-day tours. All owned, all insured, all driven by our team — no rentals, no reselling someone else’s car.

Toyota Quantum — 13-seat Commander Shuttle minibus

TOYOTA QUANTUM

13-seat minibus. The workhorse of the fleet — airport transfers, wine tours, Cape Peninsula days, anything from a single day to multi-day runs.

Hyundai Elite Staria — premium 8-seat van from Commander Shuttle

HYUNDAI ELITE STARIA

8-seat premium van. Leather interior, panoramic roof, climate control. Best for families and VIP transfers where comfort matters most.

Toyota Coaster — 22-seat Commander Shuttle bus for large groups

TOYOTA COASTER

22-seat bus. Overlanding, Garden Route, corporate transfers and multi-day group tours — everything that a minibus simply can’t fit.

OUR TEAM

Our drivers are local South Africans with years of experience on Western Cape routes. They know every road, wine estate, photo pullout and stop worth making. Real names, real experience.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

How do I reach the driver on the day of the trip?
Everything goes through our office. We confirm pickup time and location on WhatsApp the evening before, remind you the morning of, and stay in contact with the driver the whole trip. If your flight slips or you want to change the plan, message us and we reroute with the driver ourselves.
Who is responsible if something goes wrong?
We are. Not a middleman, not an aggregator. Our fleet, our drivers, our accountability from the first call to the last drop-off.
How does payment work?
A 30% deposit confirms the booking. The remaining 70% is paid on the day of the trip — cash (ZAR, USD, EUR), bank transfer, or card. Details are in our Terms of Service.
Are passengers insured?
Yes. Every vehicle carries full passenger insurance for the duration of the trip. We operate as a registered tourism transport provider in South Africa. Certificate on request.
